New Normal
This week the governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, signed a new executive order, simply put, if you go outside your home, you have to wear a mask.
As we continue to make adjustments in our lives during this pandemic most of us thought that at some point or another we’d be able to go back to our regular lives before this and “lick doorknobs” as Stephen Colbert continues to say. But now it has become increasingly clear, that we won’t be able to go back to our regular lives (at least not until a new vaccine is available.)
Put simply, we have to continue to evolve and innovate in order to keep our lives and businesses going. Get togethers and events will have to change, people will have to wear mask and carry hand sanitizer everywhere, continue to maintain a social distance as much as possible and send each other virtual hugs.
When it comes to businesses, the evolution will continue as more businesses incorporate online stores to their business plans as well as drop-off and delivery options.
This is the moment when social media can overcome its main criticism (anti-social) and actually bring people together and keep communities connected while staying physically apart.
For businesses, this is the perfect opportunity to double down on your social media efforts to stay connected to the community, your customers and evolve your business. This will be the most effective way of communication and advertising and your best opportunity to turn casual customers into fans.
Video will play a major part in your new social connection strategy, zoom calls will be great additions to your customer service as well as creating livestreams to have real-time interactions with your fans.
It’s time to embrace the change, it’s scary, we know, but we know how bright, innovative and adaptive our community can be and we’ll be here to lend a hand (or mask) whenever possible.
Stay safe and Dü Good!
